Premier League Preview 23/11/2013

After what many view as an unsuccessful international break for England, the Barclays Premier League is back and what a game to start it all up again. The early kick off is none other than the Merseyside derby, Liverpool vs Everton. Liverpool will travel to Goodison Park to face rivals Everton at 12:45. Everton manager Roberto Martinez has described the game as, “as good as a game of football can get.” Whilst Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers spoke about the derby saying that,”Both teams are up there and it’s credit to the players and the staff.” Everton have received eight red cards in the last 12 Goodison derbies meanwhile Liverpool have only received one. Liverpool normally come off better in these matches however it wouldn’t be a shock result if Everton won.

Predicted Everton Line up: http://www.futhead.com/14/squads/2802383/

Predicted Liverpool Line up: http://www.futhead.com/14/squads/2802973/

My predicted score is: Everton 1-1 Liverpool

I think that as good as SAS are, Everton are an extremely difficult team to beat, especially at Goodison Park so I think that Everton will concede first but then score and stay solid afterwards to hold out for a draw.

Premier League Preview: Saturday 09/11/2013

This Saturday may be overshadowed by the games that take place on Sunday but there’s still some real crackers in there. Cardiff travel to Aston Villa, West Brom travel to Chelsea, Crystal Palace will host Everton while Fulham travel to Anfield to face a strong Liverpool side, Southampton host Hull whilst West Ham travel to Norwich for the only televised match of the day. All games kick off at 15:00 GMT other than Norwich vs West Ham which kicks off at 17:30 GMT. My predictions for the games are:

  1. Aston Villa 2-0 Cardiff.
  2. Chelsea 4-0 West Brom
  3. Crystal Palace 1-0 Everton
  4. Liverpool 4-1 Fulham
  5. Southampton 3-1 Hull
  6. Norwich 1-2 West Ham

I don’t see Aston Villa losing at home to Cardiff even though they’ve lost Weimann to injury. Chelsea look much more confident and are finding it easier to score now, I see them comfortably beating West Brom who are struggling for goals. Crystal Palace will definitely be the underdogs when they host Everton but I see an upset on the cards, with Palace’s fans behind their team making some noise, it could be possible. Liverpool looked nervy in defense against Arsenal but I think they will bounce back with Sturridge and Suarez sharing the goals equally, I predict a 4-1 win for Liverpool. Southampton may have lost to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup during the week but they still look a good side and I just can’t see Hull pulling that one off. Norwich lost 7-0 to Man City last weekend and I think they’re poor run will continue, at least the scoreline wont look as bad though.

All in all, this Premier League Weekend could tell us a lot about where some teams are and we have six nice games to kick it off. I for one know that I’ll be watching Match of the Day tomorrow.

Premier League Preview 28/09/2013

We head into the sixth round of the premier league with Arsenal at the top above Tottenham on goal difference, meanwhile Sunderland are bottom with just one point following the departure of DI Canio. The big match on Saturday is Tottenham vs Chelsea at White Hart Lane, meanwhile Arsenal travel to Swansea hoping to continue their superb away record (10 consecutive away wins,) Man City travel to Aston Villa, Cardiff to Fulham, West Ham to Hull, West Brom to Man Utd and Crystal Palace to Southampton.

The main news coming from the Arsenal camp is that Arsene Wenger looks set to receive a new contract during his seventeenth year managing at Arsenal. He’s had some highs (unbeaten season 2003-2004) and some lows (eight seasons without a trophy.) He spoke in a press conference today stating that he was ‘honoured’ to have the backing of Arsenal owner Stan Kreonke. For me as an Arsenal fan, this comes as a great relief as in my opinion, we have the best manager in the premier league and possibly in the world. It would come as a great disappointment to the vast majority of Arsenal fans if Wenger wasn’t offered a new contract and personally, I hope that he ends his managerial career at Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas has commented that he has no regrets about his poor relationship with Jose Mourinho ahead of the London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea. Mourinho refused to make a comment during his press conference before the two sides lock horns. He did however generously say that Tottenham could win the Premier League this season along with five others including his own team.

The League table is still very open at this early stage in the season and results this weekend should see Arsenal remain at the top with a trip to Swansea however if they fail to get a point, Tottenham, Man City, Chelsea or Liverpool could find themselves topping the BPL. Once again, thanks for reading and enjoy what looks to be a great weekend of football.
